Reading: Thank you in advance for all your support and encouragement from home. Our recommendation is that the children read every night for at least 10 minutes and talk to you about what they have read. Please talk about any new words that may appear in the text and ask the children questions abut what they are reading.
This year, the reading books are given to the children on Monday and should be returned on Friday to be changed again the following Monday. Over the weekend don't forget the children can read boooks on the Oxford Owl website.
Times tables: In Year 2 times tables and the related division facts are used regularly in lessons so please practice these regularly at home. e.g. 3 x 2 = 6 so 6 ÷ 2 = 3. The children focus on the 2, 5 and 10 times tables in Year 2.
Spellings: Are given out on Monday and tested the following Monday. The spelling sheets do not need to come back into school and can stay at home. If you do want to show us the completed sheets, please send us a photo on ClassDojo.
Below are some links to websites that have various resources and interactive games to help with your child’s learning. These are a great way to consolidate what we have learnt in school. Children have been given usernames and passwords for Mathletics, Times Tables Rock Stars and Oxford Owl.
