Music

We want to foster in the children an appreciation of music and a willingness to experiment and perform. That is why children are introduced to a range of musical styles and songs from very early on. Mrs Seal works with all age groups to develop children’s' understanding of the elements of music, including pulse, rhythm and pitch, so that children by Year 6 have a good musical skillset, with all having learnt about, and experienced, various musical notations.

We are lucky to have trained specialist staff to help children develop their composition and performing skills.

We have a thriving culture of children’s singing at the school. While the school is closed we would like the children to keep singing! The voice is the foundation of all music learning at school. Here are some of the songs we have been working on in singing practice.

All children in Years 3 and 4 get the opportunity to learn to play the recorder and some will be able to go on to develop their skills on a range of brass and woodwind instruments or in the After School Guitar Clubs.

The children in Years 5 and 6 each have half a term to participate in a samba band and have the opportunity to develop their playing skills in our percussion group.
