Art and Design
In fostering children’s creativity and imagination they are taught a range of skills including appreciation of, and experimentation with, colour, tone, form, texture and patterns. Children are introduced to the works of various famous artists.
Lessons are planned to teach the children the skills needed to use various artistic materials - pencils of all sorts; wax, pastel and chalk, paint, materials and so on. These skills are taught by giving the children a wide range of lesson experiences that include drawing, painting, model making, sewing, and pottery.
Children are also encouraged to learn about and appreciate the work of significant artists from the past and present.
Throughout the year, we also organise Art Days based around different themes.
