Ethos & Values
Our Vision: Growing Together, working together, thriving together.
At Mauldeth Road Primary School, our ethos is built on creating a warm, inclusive, and joyful community where every child
feels safe, valued, and inspired to learn. We believe that true education nurtures character just as much as
academic success. Our school family is guided every day by three simple yet powerful core values:
• Kindness: We look out for one another, celebrate our differences, and ensure that a welcoming smile is at
the heart of everything we do. We teach our children to fill each day with generous actions and thoughtful
words.
• Courtesy: Good manners and respect form the foundation of our school community. We take pride in
speaking politely, listening actively to others, and valuing every individual's unique contribution.
• Co-operation: We are a team. By working hand-in-hand—pupils, teachers, parents, and governors—we
build a supportive environment where collaboration unlocks every child's full potential.
Living Our Values Every Day
Our values are not just words on a wall; they are the active heartbeat of our classrooms and playgrounds. We
celebrate them weekly through our 'SMART award' assemblies, embed them within our restorative behavior
framework, and cultivate them through pupil-led initiatives like our School Council and Eco-Council
system.
Our Commitment to a Safe and Inclusive Community
At Mauldeth Road, our core ethos is built on respect, kindness, and celebrating the unique value of every individual. We are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where everyone feels safe, welcome, and respected.
We have a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of harassment, discrimination, and bullying.
We believe that every child and adult has the right to learn and work free from fear, intimidation, or prejudice. This means we actively challenge and reject:
Discriminatory Language: Any words or actions that target individuals based on their race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or background.
Bullying and Intimidation: Any repetitive physical, verbal, or emotional behavior intended to hurt or upset others, whether in person or online.
Child-on-child Abuse: Any form of unwanted attention, harassment, or unsafe behavior between pupils.
Our Actions and Responsibilities
We are proactive with our approach to ensure the safety of all members of the school community; we empower our community to speak up. We explicitly teach our pupils the value of empathy, inclusivity, and personal boundaries.
Any incidents of harassment are taken incredibly seriously. They are investigated rapidly, dealt with firmly, and recorded transparently in line with our safeguarding and equality duties. We ensure that our reporting structures are clear and accessible, so that every voice is heard, and every individual feels confident that they will be supported with care, sensitivity, and respect.
Any reports of harassment should be made to our DSL, Mr Cope or our DDSLs, Mrs Cain, Mrs Fitzgerald and Mrs McQueen
